I’m Marcus Bell, owner of Elite Shed Movers. I served in the Navy, and when my last tour wrapped I did what a lot of sailors do here — I stayed. Hampton Roads had become home, so in 2013 I bought one box truck and started this company out of Town Center, working jobs myself before I could afford to hire anyone.
The Navy moved my family enough times that I knew exactly what a bad move feels like: the surprise charges, the no-call no-shows, the crew that treats your dresser like a battering ram. A coastal region full of relocating families deserved better, so I built the opposite.

How we work — proof, not slogans
Values are easy to print and hard to prove, so here is how ours show up on a Tuesday morning.
Flat rate, locked first
Your written price is set before we load. The number you approve is the number you pay, with no truck-day creep.
Slots held for PCS
We keep a few weekday slots open on purpose, because PCS orders and short-notice moves do not wait for a calendar to clear.
We own the risk
If something breaks we file the claim, we do not dodge the call, backed by up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment.
Our crew is ours
Everyone who carries your furniture works for me directly. No day-labor, no subcontractors, no handing your job to a stranger.
- Fourteen W-2 movers who learned the trade on our trucks, background-checked and trained before they run a job alone.
- Uniforms, dollies and four-wheel pads on every move, so your floors and door frames survive the day.
- Workers’ comp on the whole crew, so a hurt back is our problem and never yours.
The short version of our story
Started solo out of Town Center, working every job myself and writing every quote by hand.
Hired and trained the first full-time movers, then added trucks to keep up with the word-of-mouth.
Running the Peninsula over the HRBT and long hauls up the I-64 corridor on our own DOT authority.
Sixteen of us covering Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, the Peninsula and beyond, six days a week.
I serve this region because I am part of it. I have driven a loaded truck across the HRBT at rush hour, squeezed a sofa up a third-floor walk-up off Shore Drive, and parked at Naval Station Norfolk to help a young family ship out on orders. From Town Center off I-264 out to the Peninsula, this is the only market we work, and we know it street by street.— Marcus Bell, Owner
